Surface Mount Multilayer Ceramic (SMC) capacitors come in case sizes ranging from 0201 to 2225. The most popular case sizes are listed in the table below. SMC components are available on tape and reel or in bulk cassette feeders. Parts on tape and reel can come on paper tape or plastic carrier pack. Larger size reels are available. Lead-free versions of SMC components are also available. Practical Components has lead-free PCB test boards available for the 0201 through 1206 case sizes.

- Surface mount capacitors come on standard 7" reels (larger quantity reels are available upon request).
- Plastic carrier tape is non-standard for some carrier sizes.
- PL = plastic tape, PA = paper tape.
- Add a “B” to the end of the part number for bulk.
- Add a “C” to the end of the part number for bulk cassette feeder.
- The numeric section of the part number refers to the physical body size (in inches) of the component. For example: Part number 0805SMC-PL has a body size of .08" length by .05" width.
- Chip capacitor arrays are available. Call for more details.
- Lead-free parts available.
SMC
Surface Mount Capacitors Lead-Free
Chip Capacitors are now available with Nickel barrier terminations, which are recommended for solder attachment applications due to the barrier’s increased ability to resist silver leaching that can occur after prolonged exposure to soldering temperatures.
